Ali Larter Shares Her Intense Fitness Routine: 4:30 A.M. Runs, “Protein Mommy” Diet, and Weekend Recovery
Ali Larter is proving that staying in Hollywood shape takes serious dedication — even at 49. The Landman star is opening up about her early mornings, high-protein meals, and the balance she’s found between hard work and rest.
“I work really hard, okay? I’m not pretending that I don’t,” Larter tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue.
The actress, who stars as Angela — the fiery, sensual ex-wife of Billy Bob Thornton’s character on Landman, Taylor Sheridan’s hit Paramount+ drama — wakes up before dawn to start her day.
“I’m up at 4:30 a.m. on Mondays,” she says. “I go for a run — it’s only 30 minutes. I try to eat very clean, but I eat. I’m one of those protein mommies. I eat so much protein all day long. It works for me.”
A Mix of Strength and Mindset
Beyond running, Larter focuses heavily on strength training to maintain her toned physique. But for her, fitness is as much about confidence as it is about workouts.
“In the end, anytime you have to put on a bathing suit and walk in front of anybody, it’s really difficult,” she admits. “The sexiest women I know are the ones who own it. So part of playing Angela is owning it.”
When filming, especially during more revealing scenes, she blocks out insecurity entirely.
“There is no space in my mind for insecurity. I’m not allowing any of that when I play Angela,” she explains. “She’s sexy on the outside, but she’s owning it on the inside, too.”
Rest, Family, and Balance in Idaho
When she’s not filming Landman in Fort Worth, Texas, Larter retreats to Sun Valley, Idaho, where she lives with her husband, actor Hayes MacArthur, and their two children — son Teddy, 14, and daughter Vivienne, 10.
“I fall apart on the weekends,” she says with a laugh. “I lay in bed, sometimes 12 hours. I’m not kidding you.”
Her downtime includes cooking dinners, sleeping in, yoga, and long hikes with her dogs.
“I’m at every soccer game and practice. That really feeds me,” she shares.
After relocating from Hollywood to Idaho in 2022, Larter says the lifestyle shift has given her peace and balance. “It allows me to run at this high-octane pace for work, but I have an incredible support system with my husband, kids, and parents,” she adds.
What’s Next for Ali Larter
With Landman season 2 premiering November 16 on Paramount+, Larter is ready to show fans her most confident and grounded self yet. “It kind of feels like the Super Bowl,” she says. “But I’m aware of it — and grateful.”
