A surprise twist can turn an ordinary scene into unforgettable television — and that’s exactly what happened when Ali Larter and Michelle Randolph discovered their Landman characters would be getting arrested.
The moment left both actresses stunned, amused, and eager to relive the chaos that unfolded in the latest episode.
Angela (Larter) and her daughter Ainsley (Randolph) spark the trouble after hosting an aerobics class at their beloved nursing home. What begins as a cheerful workout quickly transforms into a lively cocktail-filled dance party — one that just happens to coincide with an unexpected inspection. When two health inspectors walk in, they catch the duo serving alcohol to elderly residents, triggering a confrontation that spirals faster than either character anticipated.
The situation escalates when an inspector attempts to force Angela into a chair. She fires back, kneeing him in the groin before landing a punch. Ainsley joins in by tripping the second inspector, sending both officials crashing to the floor. Randolph admits the moment surprised even her: “It was very out of character for Ainsley,” she said, laughing. “But anything for her mother.”
Moments later, Angela and Ainsley are handcuffed and left with no choice but to call Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) for help. Larter remains firmly on her character’s side, arguing that the residents deserve joy and freedom. “They should be able to have a cocktail if they want to have a cocktail,” she insists. “Enjoy your golden years!”
For Larter, the storyline also reflects a deeper emotional connection. The nursing home community gives Angela as much strength as she gives them. The plot is partly inspired by real-life experiences from Nicole Muirbrook, who volunteers at the very nursing home used in the series. Randolph confirms that many of the residents watched filming and even joined in on the fun, making the scenes feel especially authentic.
Despite the handcuffs, fans can relax — the mother-daughter pair won’t be barred from the nursing home. As series co-creator Christian Wallace puts it, “It would take more than some handcuffs to keep Angela away from anything she wants to do.”
