A Loving Dad Behind the Scenes
The Babylon and Spider-Man star became a first-time dad in November 2006 when he and Meyer welcomed their daughter, Ruby Sweetheart. The couple married a year later in 2007, and three years later, they expanded their family with the arrival of their son, Otis Tobias, born in May 2009.
Maguire has often spoken about how fatherhood transformed his life. During a 2007 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, he shared,

Born November 10, 2006, Ruby is the eldest of Tobey Maguire’s kids. Despite growing up in the spotlight, Ruby has maintained a private life. However, she occasionally accompanies her famous dad to Hollywood events.
In December 2022, Ruby made a rare red-carpet appearance alongside Maguire at the Babylon premiere in Los Angeles — a moment that delighted fans who’ve followed the actor’s career since his Spider-Man days.
When Ruby was just five months old, Maguire told reporters he “loved being a dad,” calling the experience “indescribable.” He once shared,
“When she smiles, it’s the most fantastic thing ever… I expected to fall completely in love with my child.”
Maguire’s co-star James Franco even praised him for being “completely consumed with that child,” calling Ruby “a very sweet baby.”
Otis Tobias Maguire, 15
Born May 8, 2009, Otis is Tobey and Jennifer’s youngest child. On The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Maguire revealed that Ruby “adores” her little brother and loves being a big sister — though she sometimes still wanted mom and dad’s attention.
The actor also shared a funny story about pranking Meyer at the hospital, claiming he spelled their son’s name “Oatis” on the birth certificate. Luckily, it was just a joke.
Today, Otis remains out of the public eye, growing up largely away from Hollywood’s spotlight.
