Cristiano Ronaldo believes there’s no one on Earth more recognizable than him.
During a recent tell-all interview with Piers Morgan on Piers Morgan Uncensored (Nov. 6), the 40-year-old Portuguese soccer superstar boldly declared that “nobody’s more famous” than he is — not even former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The conversation began when Morgan mentioned that European Council President Antonio Costa once gifted Trump a Portugal jersey signed by Ronaldo during a past Group of Seven summit.
“You’re the two most famous people on the planet,” Morgan said, noting Ronaldo’s unmatched Instagram following of over 650 million, compared to Trump’s 38 million.
Ronaldo smiled and posed a question:
“Who is more famous, me or Donald Trump, in the world?”
When Morgan threw the question back to him, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner didn’t hesitate.
“Me,” Ronaldo replied confidently.
“Even in the small islands, they know me more than him. I think in the world, nobody’s more famous than me. Tell me one. Tell me one!”
Morgan admitted it was “a very interesting debate,” suggesting that Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth II, and Nelson Mandela might have surpassed both men had they been alive.
But today, he said, “It’s you and Donald Trump.”
Ronaldo laughed, agreeing:
“It’s a good debate.”
Ronaldo Says Fame Is ‘Boring’
Despite acknowledging his massive popularity, Ronaldo admitted that being globally recognized can be exhausting.
“Do you like that?” Morgan asked.
Ronaldo replied honestly,
“No. It is what it is. It’s boring. Trust me. I wish I wasn’t so famous. Really, really. It’s boring.”
The soccer icon, who’s been in the public eye since his teenage years, explained that he never aimed for fame itself:
“I never wanted to be famous. I wanted success. I knew I’d be a star, but to be this famous — never. It’s boring, trust me.”
Ronaldo Talks About Fiancée Georgina Rodríguez
In the same interview, Ronaldo also shared a sweet detail about his engagement to Georgina Rodríguez, whom he’s been dating for eight years. The couple announced their engagement in August 2025.
Ronaldo revealed that Georgina’s reaction to the $5 million engagement ring was simple and heartfelt:
“She didn’t care about the ring,” he said. “She asked if I was honest. I told her, ‘I want you and I want to marry you.’ I didn’t cry, but I had tears in my eyes.”
A Global Icon Who Feels the Weight of Fame
From Manchester United to Real Madrid and now Al Nassr, Ronaldo’s career has spanned continents and decades. Yet even with global recognition and unmatched social media influence, he insists fame has its downsides.
Still, his claim — that “nobody’s more famous” than him — has sparked viral debate online. Whether you agree or not, there’s no denying that Cristiano Ronaldo remains one of the most recognizable and influential figures on the planet.
