Dannielle Merrifield is getting candid about her emotional journey as she watches husband Garrick Merrifield marry Lorrana, his soon-to-be second wife, in a touching new episode of Seeking Sister Wife.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek from the Monday, Nov. 10 episode on TLC, Dannielle joins Garrick and Lorrana at their local Colorado courthouse, where the couple prepares to make their relationship official. Lorrana, originally from Brazil, arrived in the United States on a 90-day visa — marking a new chapter in the Merrifields’ plural marriage journey.
As Garrick and Lorrana head inside the courthouse to exchange vows, Dannielle remains outside, visibly emotional. Speaking directly to the camera, she reflects on what the moment means to her — especially after everything she and Garrick have been through over the years.
“Maybe because Garrick and I have gone through so much in our marriage and considered really divorcing each other, that it hits a point in my heart,” Dannielle admits tearfully.
The scene comes four years after Dannielle and Garrick legally divorced so that Garrick could marry Roberta, another woman from Brazil — a relationship that later ended in heartbreak.
“I’m trying not to get emotional,” Dannielle says in the clip. “I know it’s just a piece of paper. But seeing their paper and knowing mine isn’t… it hits different.”
The mom-of-three — who shares Geremiah, Solomon, and Leia with Garrick — explains that part of accepting another wife means learning to trust Lorrana.
“I think trusting Lorrana, that she really loves me and our family, and she’s in it for all of us,” she shares. “It’s not easy, but I want to believe she’s genuine.”
Despite her efforts to stay positive, Dannielle admits she can’t shake the feeling that this new marriage could change her bond with Garrick.
“I know it doesn’t change Garrick’s heart with me or my heart with him,” she says. “But somehow it makes me feel a little bit less tied to him. I know it’s probably stupid — it’s just papers, right?”
Season 6 of Seeking Sister Wife follows the Merrifields as they open their hearts once again after previous challenges with both Roberta and Nathalia.
After living monogamously for more than a decade, Garrick said he felt “inspired by God” to pursue a plural lifestyle. The couple met Roberta online, leading to their legal divorce in 2020 to allow Garrick to marry her. However, when that relationship fell apart, Dannielle’s emotional struggles with plural marriage only deepened.
Still, the Merrifields continue to share their journey — one filled with faith, emotion, and the complexities of love — on Seeking Sister Wife.
