Halsey Slams Fan at Boston Show After ER Visit: “I Almost Died to Be on This Stage”
Halsey isn’t holding back. The pop star fiercely shut down an audience member who yelled at her to “stop talking and play” during her concert in Boston on Monday, November 3, just hours after she was released from the hospital.
The 31-year-old singer, who uses she/they pronouns, had earlier shared on Instagram Stories that she spent the night in the ER at Mass General Hospital due to an acute medical emergency. Despite the scare, she still performed the second of two shows at the MGM Music Hall.
According to fan-recorded TikTok videos, Halsey was addressing the crowd when someone shouted, “Stop talking and play!” — prompting a fiery response from the singer.
“You think you’re tough s— because you’re from Boston? I’m from Jersey, baby. I’ll whoop your ass,” Halsey fired back. “My dad’s from Boston, my mom’s from Jersey — that basically makes me a f—ing demon.”
She continued,
“I’m gonna play whatever the f— I wanna play. In case you didn’t hear me correctly, I almost f—ing died to be on this stage.”
Fans quickly praised Halsey’s unapologetic reaction online. The next day, the “Without Me” singer appeared to reference the incident on X (formerly Twitter), posting a twist on her 2019 hit “Nightmare”:
“I’ve been polite but won’t be caught dead letting a man tell me what I should play in my set.”
Later, she responded to a fan’s comment about the encounter, writing, “He told me to ‘stop talking and play ____.’ 🙄 There’s always one.”
Before the Boston concert, Halsey reassured fans about her health, writing on Instagram:
“Boston, I’m gonna be honest with ya, after the show last night I was in the ER till 6 this morning. Minor medical emergency but I’m A-Okay now and ready to rock tonight!”
She thanked her doctors and nurses at Mass General, adding, “Huge shoutout to Dr. Kian, Dr. Victoria, and my nurses Carolyn and Alicia for being the absolute best team I’ve ever met.”
In September 2024, Halsey also revealed in a TikTok post that she had undergone chemotherapy, following her 2022 diagnosis with lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.
Despite her ongoing health struggles, the “Ego” performer continues to inspire fans by showing resilience and dedication to performing.
