Inside the Love Lives of the Happy’s Place Cast — Including the Couple Married Nearly 30 Years!

Season 2 of NBC’s hit sitcom Happy’s Place is back with even more laughter, heart, and real-life romance. The series reunited Reba favorites Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman, and also stars Rex Linn, Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, and Tokala Black Elk. Premiering Nov. 7, the new season dives deeper into family bonds, workplace friendships, and in some cases — relationships that extend far beyond the screen.

Happy’s Place follows McEntire’s character, Bobbie, who inherits her late father’s Knoxville bar. Just when she steps into her new role, her long-lost half-sister Isabella (played by Escobedo) arrives, sparking emotional and comedic chaos.

While romance sparks between Bobbie and Emmett (played by Rex Linn) in the show, the two are also a real-life couple. And they aren’t the only cast members whose love lives are drawing attention. Here’s a closer look at the off-screen relationships of the Happy’s Place stars.

1. Reba McEntire & Rex Linn

Reba McEntire and Rex Linn share undeniable chemistry both on and off the screen. McEntire plays Bobbie, proudly running her family bar, while Linn portrays Emmett, the longtime cook and bar confidant.

Their personal love story began decades after they first met in 1991. They reconnected in 2020 and quickly became inseparable, even sharing sweet moments on set. Linn previously revealed that he sometimes sneaks in a “quick kiss” during filming breaks.

The couple got engaged in December 2024 and shared the news publicly at the 2025 Emmy Awards. McEntire said the proposal took place on Christmas Eve in Tennessee, describing the moment as deeply meaningful.

Now 70, McEntire said her relationship with Linn has brought her more joy than ever. “I’ve never been loved by a man like Rex Linn,” she shared. Working together daily — from driving to set to rehearsing lines — has strengthened their bond even further.

2. Belissa Escobedo

Belissa Escobedo brings humor and heartfelt emotion to Isabella, Bobbie’s half-sister. While Escobedo keeps her personal life private, she has openly shared that she came out as pansexual as a teen.

Her character, however, focuses primarily on reconnecting with family. Escobedo revealed that in Season 2, Isabella is protective of her sister Bobbie — especially when it comes to Emmett. “She’s loyal to her sister first,” the actress explained.

3. Melissa Peterman & John Brady

Melissa Peterman returns as Gabby, the spirited bartender who brings chaos and charm to the bar. Off-screen, Peterman has been happily married to John Brady since 1999.

The couple first met in Minnesota and tied the knot in Peterman’s hometown of Minneapolis. In 2024, they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary — a “silver medal marriage,” as Peterman joked.

Parents to their son Riley, born in 2005, the couple remains deeply connected. Peterman recently opened up about adjusting to becoming an empty nester, sharing how much she misses her son as he grows into adulthood.

4. Pablo Castelblanco

Pablo Castelblanco plays Steve, the bar’s accountant who battles OCD and leans on Gabby for support. Castelblanco is openly gay but keeps his romantic life off social media.

He has spoken about the powerful friendship between Steve and Gabby, describing their dynamic as one where they challenge one another — but always with love.

5. JoAnna Garcia Swisher & Nick Swisher

JoAnna Garcia Swisher joins Happy’s Place as Kenzie, a Knoxville influencer hired to boost the bar’s social media presence. Her appearance reunites her with former Reba castmates.

In real life, Garcia Swisher has been married to former MLB star Nick Swisher since 2010. Together, they share two daughters, Emerson Jay and Sailor Stevie. She has praised her husband for being their daughters’ biggest supporter, calling him a “true girl dad.”

6. Christopher Lloyd & Lisa Loiacono

Christopher Lloyd guest-stars in Season 2 as Clive, a man who loses his phone at the bar — a role that adds quirky fun to the show.

Off-screen, Lloyd has been married to Lisa Loiacono since 2016. The pair met when she was helping sell his Los Angeles home. They rarely speak publicly about their relationship but have shared that their life together is filled with home-cooked meals and steady companionship.

The couple made a rare red carpet appearance in 2025, delighting fans who cherish Lloyd’s enduring legacy in Hollywood.
