Hilary Duff is back — and she’s bringing both nostalgia and growth with her.
On Thursday, November 6, 2025, the actress and musician released her brand-new single “Mature,” marking her first original song in 10 years since her 2015 album Breathe In. Breathe Out. The track, released through Atlantic Records, is cowritten and produced by Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, alongside songwriter Madison Love.
“‘Mature’ is a little conversation that my present self is having with my younger self,” Duff said in a statement. “We’re reflecting on past experiences and sending love to each other. It’s a chuckle, a wink, and a moment of gratitude for where we’ve landed.”
The upbeat pop-rock song dives into Duff’s past while embracing who she’s become, with lyrics like:
“She looks like all of your girls but blonder / A little like me, just younger / Bet she loves when she hears you say / You’re so mature for your age, babe.”
A Music Video Filled with Self-Reflection and Symbolism
The music video for “Mature” beautifully visualizes this dialogue between Duff’s past and present selves. One version of Hilary performs on stage in an empty theater wearing a shimmering dress and fur coat, while another — dressed in a leather jacket — watches from the audience.
In an interview with Jake Shane on the Therapuss podcast, Duff explained the video’s message as “meeting yourself where you landed.”
She also shared a sweet connection to her 2003 debut album Metamorphosis:
“There are butterflies in the video — they’ve always been a big theme in my life since Metamorphosis. It’s a small but meaningful nod to that chapter.”
Duff added, “It feels good to send love back to the version of yourself that got you here. I love those little winks to the past.”
A New Era with Atlantic Records
Earlier this year, Hilary Duff signed with Atlantic Records and announced an upcoming docuseries chronicling her musical return. Directed and executive-produced by Sam Wrench, the series will give fans a raw look at her life as she balances motherhood, recording sessions, rehearsals, and preparing to perform live for the first time in over a decade.
According to the network’s press release, the docuseries will include interviews, performance footage, and never-before-seen clips from Duff’s personal archive.
Duff’s Excitement for Her Comeback
In September, Duff teased this exciting new chapter on Instagram, posting:
“New music… or something 🪩✨🍒.”
Then, on November 3, she officially announced Mature:
“So happy this is finally yours to hear. Been keeping this one quiet too long. My new single Mature is out Nov. 6.”
The post featured kaleidoscopic single artwork that instantly got fans talking about her long-awaited musical comeback.
