Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker Split After 11 Years of Marriage: “A Difficult and Emotional Time”
Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kandi Burruss and her husband, producer Todd Tucker, are officially ending their marriage after more than a decade together.
In an exclusive statement, Burruss confirmed that she has made the “difficult” decision to file for divorce.
“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce,” the 49-year-old star shared. “This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.”
Burruss added that she is entering a new chapter centered on family, personal growth, and her professional ambitions.
“I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.”
A Hollywood Love Story That Began on Reality TV
Burruss and Tucker first met while filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2011, when Tucker was a line producer on the show. They announced their engagement in January 2013 and were married in April 2014.
The couple welcomed two children together — son Ace, 9, and daughter Blaze, 5. Both also have older children from previous relationships: Burruss’ daughter Riley, 23, and Tucker’s daughter Kaela, 29.
Back in 2022, Burruss shared that the key to their strong marriage was “great communication and having fun together,” explaining that the two always had a deep understanding of each other.
A Partnership That Extended Beyond Marriage
Throughout their relationship, Burruss and Tucker blended their personal and professional lives, collaborating on several successful ventures. Together, they launched a popular soul food restaurant chain in Georgia, managed a trucking company, and starred in a Bravo series featuring their family and business journey.
Just one week before the divorce announcement, Burruss publicly thanked Tucker during her Wifetime Achievement Award acceptance speech at The Bravos during BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas.
“To Todd, thank you for surviving the blogs, the shade, the rumors, the lies, the truth, the almost fights, the actual fights, the reunions… You earned this award too,” she said.
Kandi’s Rising Success on Broadway and Beyond
Outside of reality TV, Burruss has built a powerful reputation on the Broadway stage. She made her Broadway debut in Chicago in 2018 and will return on December 11 to star in & Juliet, running through March 8.
As a producer, she earned a Tony Award nomination for The Piano Lesson and contributed to celebrated productions like The Wiz, Thoughts of a Colored Man, and last season’s Othello featuring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Burruss previously said that she and Tucker always supported each other’s careers:
“We have intertwined our wants and desires. We have all these dreams, and sometimes I’ll be all out of the box, but he’ll still be like, ‘Okay babe, let’s do it.’”
A Look Back at Their Love Story
Over the years, the pair often shared heartfelt messages celebrating their relationship. For their eighth wedding anniversary in 2022, Burruss posted a nostalgic video montage featuring their journey together — from signing their marriage license to walking red carpets and sharing milestone moments. She captioned it, “We’ve got that forever kind of love.”
Tucker also posted his own anniversary tribute, writing, “8 years of blessings! God is so amazing, he makes no mistakes… I look forward to our future and a lifetime of love.”
Now, the two are closing their romantic chapter but are committed to co-parenting and respecting each other as they move forward.
