Klay Thompson Fires Back at “Disgusting” Comments About Megan Thee Stallion Made by Former NBA Players
Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson is strongly defending his girlfriend Megan Thee Stallion after two former NBA players made offensive remarks suggesting the rapper was responsible for his on-court struggles this season.
During a recent episode of their Hoopin’ N Hollerin’ podcast, retired players Patrick Beverley and Jason Williams speculated about Thompson’s reduced production, with Williams making a crude comparison implying that Thompson’s relationship might be affecting his focus.
Williams, 49, used an old saying he claimed came from “old white folks” in West Virginia, adding, “It only takes one p— to drag a battleship across the desert.” He continued, “I’m not saying that’s what it is with Klay … but it might be.”
The Mavericks star quickly responded after the clip circulated on Instagram on Thursday, Nov. 13.
“Referring to my girlfriend as a ‘p*y’ is disgusting and disturbing,”** Thompson wrote. “Especially coming from someone who played in the NBA. How would you feel if I talked about your wives like that?”
Thompson’s Slow Start to the Season
The Mavericks’ difficult 3–9 start — worsened by the loss of Luka Dončić and an injured Kyrie Irving — has left the team with limited playmaking. Thompson, who joined the team after his Golden State Warriors run, recently lost his starting spot.
Through 12 games, he is averaging:
-
8.5 points per game
-
28.9% from three-point range (well below his career average of 41%)
Despite the rough stretch on the court, Thompson’s off-court life with Megan Thee Stallion remains strong.
A Growing Relationship
Megan Thee Stallion previously told PEOPLE that her first meeting with Thompson was “like a movie,” though she kept the details private. Since then, the couple has shared glimpses of their relationship — including gym dates, dinners, and sweet moments at home.
In late October, Megan hinted that the couple may be living together. In an Instagram post dated Oct. 29, the two formed a heart shape with their hands in front of a home, with a visible key and keychain, leading fans to speculate about a new shared residence.
In a carousel set to her track “LOVER GIRL,” Megan included photos of their moments together and even referenced making her man’s “house into a home.”
As Thompson continues to adjust to his new role in Dallas, he made one thing very clear: disrespect toward Megan Thee Stallion won’t be tolerated.
