LaKeith Stanfield is opening up about one of the most powerful moments of his life — watching his wife Kasmere Trice Stanfield give birth to their first child together.
The Atlanta and Judas and the Black Messiah star attended the New York premiere of Die My Love at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater on November 1, 2025, walking the red carpet alongside his wife, Kasmere.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, LaKeith reflected on the unforgettable moment he witnessed his wife bring their baby into the world.
“It was the craziest, beautiful, powerful, amazing thing I’ve ever seen,” he shared. “And I had a camera.”
Stanfield revealed that he took photos during the delivery and even held Kasmere’s leg, describing the entire experience as “amazing.”
“As a man, all you want to do is help and bear witness,” he said. “Coming out of this movie, we’re reminded how important women are — how vital they are to the entirety of creation in the world.”
The actor and his wife revealed to PEOPLE in July 2023 that they had secretly gotten married and welcomed their first child together. At the time, Kasmere shared that the couple had made a conscious decision to keep their baby’s details private.
“We decided early on we wanted to protect our baby as much as we can for as long as possible,” she told PEOPLE.
LaKeith is also a proud father to two daughters from previous relationships.
Speaking to PEOPLE that same month, the Oscar-nominated actor opened up about how deeply fatherhood has impacted him.
“I’m truly concerned about their wellbeing — that they do well, feel well, and grow up safe in the world,” he said. “I didn’t really have a male figure in my life that I could depend on growing up, so I want to be that for them.”
He added that the bond he shares with his kids is “unlike any I’ve ever had in my life.”
LaKeith’s emotional honesty continues to endear him to fans, as he balances his growing family life with a thriving Hollywood career.
