Millie Bobby Brown Fires Back at Photographer at Stranger Things 5 Red Carpet: “Smile? You Smile!”
Millie Bobby Brown made headlines at the Stranger Things Season 5 premiere in London on Nov. 13 after a tense moment on the red carpet. While posing in a dramatic couture look from Ashi Studio’s Fall 2025 collection, the 21-year-old star was interrupted by a photographer shouting, “Smile!”
Clearly annoyed, Brown quickly snapped back, responding, “Smile? You Smile!” as she pointed toward the group of photographers. She then turned away from the cameras and exited the carpet, with photos capturing her visible irritation.
Brown attended the event wearing a striking black corset layered with flowing black tulle that extended into a long, elegant train. She completed her look with custom Aldo heels marked with “011,” a clever nod to her iconic character, Eleven.
The London premiere follows a busy week of global press events for the show’s final season. Earlier on Nov. 6 in Los Angeles, Brown walked the red carpet with her husband, Jake Bongiovi. Bongiovi wore a crimson velvet suit, while Brown opted for a dramatic black Rodarte gown with feather accents. She joked to Variety that she wore black “for the funeral of the show,” hinting at how dark the final season becomes.
Inside the L.A. premiere, Brown changed into a maroon corset and matching mini skirt as she continued celebrating the series’ final chapter. Reflecting on her journey with the show since its 2016 debut, Brown shared with PEOPLE that the cast and crew have become like family.
She explained that Stranger Things taught her valuable lessons about professionalism, acting, and friendship. “It’s given me the most amazing people in my life,” she said. “I’m so honored and blessed to have been a part of this show for so many years. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 1 premieres Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. ET on Netflix. Volume 2 arrives on Dec. 25, with the series finale streaming Dec. 31.
