Marshawn Kneeland’s Girlfriend Catalina Mancera Breaks Silence After His Death: “Words Could Never Express How Broken I Feel”

Marshawn Kneeland’s girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, has shared a deeply emotional tribute following the Dallas Cowboys player’s tragic death at age 24.

On Monday, November 10, Mancera posted a heartfelt message on Facebook alongside a photo of the couple, expressing her immense grief just days after Kneeland’s passing from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on November 6 in Frisco, Texas.

“My sweet baby, words could never express how broken I feel. You’re my everything. I’ll love you forever, my beautiful angel,” Mancera wrote, adding a white heart emoji.

Friends and family flooded the comments with love and support. One wrote, “Love you, Cat. He is always with you — praying for you and his family.” Another added, “Marshawn will always be with you. You could see the love you shared so deeply.”

Tragic Final Hours

Kneeland’s death came just two days after he scored his first NFL touchdown, a career milestone celebrated by fans and teammates alike.

According to police audio obtained by PEOPLE, Mancera had reached out to law enforcement hours before the tragedy, expressing fears that Kneeland might harm himself. The dispatcher reported that she said he was “armed” and had a “history of mental illness,” quoting her as saying, “He will end it all.”

Officers also confirmed that Kneeland’s family had received a group text message from him saying goodbye. His body was found near his vehicle in Frisco at around 1:31 a.m. on Nov. 6, following a police chase.

Cowboys Mourn Their Teammate

The Dallas Cowboys held an emotional team meeting on November 10, marking their first in-person gathering since Kneeland’s death.
Defensive lineman Solomon Thomas shared, “We needed a day just to be human and to cry and let everyone know how we felt. It was an extremely draining and hard day for everyone who loved Marshawn.”

Team owner Jerry Jones also revealed plans to honor Kneeland’s legacy throughout the remainder of the season. Quarterback Dak Prescott added that he was “heartbroken” for the young player’s family and girlfriend, saying, “I hurt for his family.”

Kneeland’s untimely passing has reignited discussions around mental health in professional sports, with fans and teammates urging others to seek help.
